TikTok Vs. Youtube

Advantages of TikTok

TikTok is becoming more and more popular, and it is even starting to compete with YouTube. You can get thousands of more views than YouTube easily. There is a huge advantage to TikTok that it’s no longer for teens. A lot less companies are on to the fact that this social media site is growing and hence lower competition. There is substantially less content on the platform then YouTube, so the sooner you start the better.

Disadvantages of TikTok

However, there is a downside to TikTok that YouTube seems it will always be the bigger advantage. If you actually produce long and informative educational videos, TikTok won’t do. The average time for videos is under three minuets. YouTube can actually educate people and serve as a means beyond basic marketing. YouTube is a great way to learn new skills and even listen to music, therefore it is far more useful to people than TikTok. TikTok does not have much value if not any for most people. The only advantage is that there is more viewability from users in a short amount of time. However, there are many ways to grow a YouTube channel that will come with more effort, but is well worth while, as you can create something with actual meaning and value.

If you actually provide good value and information to people publicly for free; for example videos on how to set up and manage paid ads like my favorite Youtubber Neil Patel, your channel will get views over time. But, like Neil Patel says himself, it is more important to actually provide value and help people. Can you imagine trying to understand something complex as that on TikTok? Or trying to decide on whether you want to download an album, but want to check it out on YouTube first? I can only imagine all Neil could say in under 3 minuets would be a short quote and then link the real content to YouTube. Which is already pretty much what people do successfully already on Facebook and Instagram.

If you are ever interested yourself in the concepts of digital marketing, check out Neil Patel’s site https://neilpatel.com. I have learned much of my information from him and his free YouTube videos. If you are obsessed with digital marketing like me, or you wish you learned more in college courses and are a recent graduate you will benefit so much from reading his blogs. Even, if you are switching careers or own your own business, you can benefit from the advice. One of my favorite articles: https://neilpatel.com/blog/improve-website-performance will go in depth on how you can get more website traffic.

Outcome

Also, if you have a product that is well suited for a more mature demographic, it’s better to go with YouTube. The best bet is to combine both, as the reach on TikTok is phenomenal for the short-term time being. You can have it set up so the longer more substantial content can go on YouTube and the short-form videos can go to TikTok.

But, by all means, just skip TikTok. Even though it is now the 3rd largest social media platform, as an experienced digital marketer myself, I believe the fad will fade as quickly as a video on Snapchat. We all know what happened to Snapchat…..that is if you even remember who they are anymore. I think the overall uselessness of the platform will come to be exposed just the same way as that which I keep forgetting the name of….Snap Inc.
